At Positively Mental Health, our training is led by Bebba Smithers, an experienced instructor committed to empowering people with the knowledge and confidence to support mental health effectively.
Bebba Smithers, MSc, PG Cert, is an experienced instructor and mental health trainer who has delivered Adult Mental Health First Aid courses for more than five years to NHS staff (including doctors, nurses, managers, administrators, and HR professionals), leaders in the education sector, charities, military personnel, and corporate organisations.
Bebba has 31 years of experience in NHS Senior Medical Educational Management within a large acute multi-site Trust. During this time, she supported doctors and staff with their mental health—work she found deeply meaningful and rewarding.
She has also served on several national educational advisory boards.

Through Positively Mental Health, Bebba delivers Mental Health First Aid courses that are welcoming, interactive, and grounded in evidence-based research. Her sessions blend expert input, presentations, group discussions, and practical scenarios to embed learning effectively.
Bebba genuinely enjoys training people to become Mental Health First Aiders and consistently receives excellent feedback from course participants. Delegates often share that her course not only prepares them to begin practising as a Mental Health First Aider in their workplace or community, but also provides a valuable personal experience – transforming their understanding of mental health and their confidence to support others.
Passionate about improving mental wellbeing, Bebba is dedicated to helping people gain the skills and confidence to start difficult conversations and create positive change.
Bebba’s expertise, empathy, and commitment shape every course, ensuring participants feel supported, informed, and confident in their ability to make a real difference.
